Citizens demand details of phone tests for children and adults

Press release by Dr. Marc Arazi, Monday 17 July 2017
Online link

After 2017 released data of the French government showed excessive levels of microwave radiation from mobile phones, Gilles Brégant, Director-General of the French National Frequencies Agency (ANFR) promised to release additional test details.

Last year, the French National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES) published a report entitled, “Exposure to Radiofrequencies and Child Health,” showing the most phones failed to meet current standards for radiation and pledging to release test methods and results. By not keeping its commitment and releasing these details a year later, ANFR is abrogating its duty to public health and the environment. While secondary insurers do not cover phone manufacturers for health damages, a new European Directive (Dir 2014/53/UE) protects the uninsurable industry from possible legal actions (article 42).

Because of this agency inaction, French physician Marc Arazi is appealing directly to the Director-General of ANFR as well as to Nicolas Hulot, Minister for the Ecological Transition, and Agnès Buzyn, Minister for Health.

Abstract

In May 2011 the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) evaluated cancer risks from radiofrequency (RF) radiation. Human epidemiological studies gave evidence of increased risk for glioma and acoustic neuroma. RF radiation was classified as Group 2B, a possible human carcinogen. Further epidemiological, animal and mechanistic studies have strengthened the association. In spite of this, in most countries little or nothing has been done to reduce exposure and educate people on health hazards from RF radiation. On the contrary ambient levels have increased. In 2014 the WHO launched a draft of a Monograph on RF fields and health for public comments. It turned out that five of the six members of the Core Group in charge of the draft are affiliated with International Commission on Non-Ionizing Radiation Protection (ICNIRP), an industry loyal NGO, and thus have a serious conflict of interest. Just as by ICNIRP, evaluation of non-thermal biological effects from RF radiation are dismissed as scientific evidence of adverse health effects in the Monograph. This has provoked many comments sent to the WHO. However, at a meeting on March 3, 2017 at the WHO Geneva office it was stated that the WHO has no intention to change the Core Group.

Arizona Sen. John McCain, the 2008 Republican presidential nominee with a well-known maverick streak that often vexes his GOP colleagues, has been diagnosed with a brain tumor, his office said in a statement Wednesday.

The 80-year-old lawmaker has glioblastoma, an aggressive cancer, according to doctors at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, where McCain had a blood clot removed from above his left eye last Friday.

"Subsequent tissue pathology revealed that a primary brain tumor known as a glioblastoma was associated with the blood clot," his office said in a statement.

According to the American Brain Tumor Association, more than 12,000 people a year are diagnosed with glioblastoma, a particularly aggressive type of tumor. The American Cancer Society puts the five-year survival rate for patients over 55 at about 4 percent.

It's the same type of tumor that struck McCain's close Democratic colleague in legislative battles, the late Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts.

The tumor digs tentacle-like roots into normal brain tissue. Patients fare best when surgeons can cut out all the visible tumor, which happened with McCain's tumor, according to his office. That isn't a cure; cancerous cells that aren't visible still tend to lurk, the reason McCain's doctors are considering further treatment, including chemotherapy and radiation.

Although these people are sick, their illness is difficult to diagnose, and it’s even harder to convince others that it actually exists. Their symptoms include cluster headaches, nausea, chronic fatigue, a burning sensation on the skin, and a metallic taste in the mouth. Sufferers claim the cause is wireless technology. There’s no known cure, and the only way to alleviate the symptoms seems to be to distance themselves from electronic devices and the influence of omnipresent wireless networks.

Fukushima Radiation and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics

Fukushima Radiation and the 2020 Tokyo Olympics
by Dahr Jamail, Truthout / EcoWatch, 17 July 2017

Former nuclear industry senior vice president Arnie Gunderson, who managed and coordinated projects at 70 U.S. atomic power plants, is appalled at how the Japanese government is handling the Fukushima nuclear crisis.

"The inhumanity of the Japanese government toward the Fukushima disaster refugees is appalling," Gunderson, a licensed reactor operator with 45 years of nuclear power engineering experience and the author of a bestselling book in Japan about the Fukushima Daiichi disaster, told Truthout.

He explains that both the Japanese government and the atomic power industry are trying to force almost all of the people who evacuated their homes in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear disaster to return "home" before the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

This March Japan's federal government announced the subsidies that have, up until now, been provided to Fukushima evacuees who were mandated to leave their homes are being withdrawn, which will force many of them to return to their contaminated prefecture out of financial necessity.

And it's not just the Japanese government. The International Olympic Commission is working overtime to normalize the situation as well, even though conditions at Fukushima are anything but normal. The commission even has plans for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics to have baseball and softball games played at Fukushima.

Digital Addiction - What Do We Do As Parents?

Digital Addiction – What do we do as parents?

When I grew up, the closest thing we had to the Internet was the local library. And a mobile phone was something you played with by tying long pieces of string to tin cans. We even had walkie talkies, which were really cool. Our television programmes started in the afternoon and generally you only had two or three channels to choose from. Wireless was an old-fashioned word for the radio and digital addiction wasn’t even a thing.

The Millennial Generation has had a very different childhood experience. The explosion of technology in recent decades has been significant and this has impacted young children considerably. The number of electronic toys for children and teens has slowly replaced “regular toys”. Books have been replaced by e-readers, board games by apps, even pets have been replaced with apps and robotic equivalents that claim to be just like the real thing.

But what impact is this technology having on our children?

At the recent BioEM2017 meeting in Hangzhou, China, I spoke at length with Emilie van Deventer (EvD), Head of the WHO EMF Project, about the current status of the work on the Environmental Health Criteria (EHC) for the RF-EMF.

Emilie van Deventer has doctorate in electrical engineering and she is an Adjunct Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Toronto in Canada.

Below is what I got to know and what I did not get to know from Emilie van Deventer, in our face-to-face discussion in Hangzhou and subsequent e-mail exchange…

Current status of the EHC draft document

China’s Religious Revival Fuels Environmental Activism

" 'China doesn’t lack money — it lacks a reverence for the environment,' Abbot Yang said. 'Our morals are in decline and our beliefs have been lost.'... Xuan Jing, a Taoist monk, said Western notions of the environment were focused on treating symptoms of a problem, not the underlying disease. 'You must cure the soul before you can cure the symptoms,' he said. 'The root lies with human’s desires.' "

MAO MOUNTAIN, China — Far from the smog-belching power plants of nearby cities, on a hillside covered in solar panels and blossoming magnolias, Yang Shihua speaks of the need for a revolution.

Mr. Yang, the abbot of Mao Mountain, a sacred Taoist site in eastern China, has grown frustrated by indifference to a crippling pollution crisis that has left the land barren and the sky a haunting gray. So he has set out to spur action through religion, building a $17.7 million eco-friendly temple and citing 2,000-year-old texts to rail against waste and pollution.

Take home notes (ADHD and Autism concerns):

1. The findings of our new study published in "Anatomy and Cell Biology" journal shows that exposure to GSM 900 MHz mobile phone radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF) decreases the proliferation of neural stem cells (NSCs).
2. Decreased neuronal differentiation in NSCs was also observed in cells exposed to RF-EMF.
3. Exposure to GSM 900 MHz RF-EMF does not influence NSCs viability and apoptosis.
4. Active neurogenesis from the stem cells occurs during the first trimester of pregnancy, which could possibly get affected by accumulating dose of exposure to mobile phone RF-EMF.
5. Further research is needed to verify if exposure to mobile phone RF-EMF during the first trimester of pregnancy is associated with increased susceptibility to disorders such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or autism in the offspring .

We’re losing a whole generation of young men to video games
by Kyle Smithnypost.com, 8 July 2017

One night in the mid-1990s I tried out a computer game called “Civilization.” You started with a screen that was completely black, except for one square of land. As you pushed outward from this base, you’d make discoveries about the land around you and its inhabitants. You’d start to build a society, first primitive stuff like granaries, then advancing to roads and weapons.

Trade-offs would arise: Should I build a library or a cannon? As your world advanced, you’d run into other civilizations. It was disconcerting to discover somebody else had a battleship while you were working with catapults. As I was journeyed through all of these fascinating challenges, I discovered to my surprise that the sun had come up. Something had gone haywire with time. It was already 7 a.m.

Too many children being prescribed melatonin to aid sleep, experts warn
by Sarah Marsh @sloumarsh, The Guardian,
29 May 2017

Some specialists concerned use of hormone has become a ‘fashionable treatment’ for parents who want ‘perfect children’The hormone melatonin is being handed out too readily to children who are struggling to sleep, despite the fact little is known about the long-term risks of taking it, experts have warned.

Melatonin, a hormone the body produces naturally in reaction to darkness that helps prepare us for sleep, has been authorised for use among the over-55s, and has been hailed as a less-addictive alternative to drug treatments for insomnia.

But after a surge in the number of children under 14 being admitted to hospital with sleep disorders over the last decade, specialists are concerned that it is being given to children ”off label” – with little knowledge of the long-term safety or side-effects. They fear that it may be being overprescribed by paediatricians and has become a fashionable treatment for parents who want “perfect” children.

A new special section of Child Development shows how particularly diverse the use of mobile technology is among children and adolescents, and points to great complexity in the effects of that usage.

This special section of Child Development, edited by Dr. Zheng Yan and Dr. Lennart Hardell, adds important information to the research in this area. It includes articles from national and international scholars on the complicated impact mobile technology has on infants, toddlers, children, teens and parents.

"There are nearly three billion children and adolescents in the world," said Yan. "Most of them were, are, or will be various types of mobile technology users, interacting with and being influenced by mobile technology in numerous ways."

Why You Should Take Disposal of E-Waste Seriously
by Anurit Kantibusinessworld.in,
13 July 2017

The generation of e-waste is set to exponentially increase, given that more and more of technology becomes obsolete with rapid technological progress.

It becomes increasingly important to employ effective recycling, manufacturing and disposal tools to properly manage e-waste, especially given the fact that the life cycle of various products is continuously decreasing.

This means that the generation of e-waste is set to exponentially increase, given that more and more of technology becomes obsolete with rapid technological progress. For developing countries, this is a major problem as lack of regulation and an effective legal framework causes them to be the biggest importers of e-waste from developing countries.

Life and death in Apple’s forbidden city
by Brian Merchant, The Guardian,
18 June 2017

In an extract from his new book, Brian Merchant reveals how he gained access to Longhua, the vast complex where iPhones are made and where, in 2010, unhappy workers started killing themselves

The sprawling factory compound, all grey dormitories and weather-beaten warehouses, blends seamlessly into the outskirts of the Shenzhen megalopolis. Foxconn’s enormous Longhua plant is a major manufacturer of Apple products. It might be the best-known factory in the world; it might also might be among the most secretive and sealed-off. Security guards man each of the entry points. Employees can’t get in without swiping an ID card; drivers entering with delivery trucks are subject to fingerprint scans. A Reuters journalist was once dragged out of a car and beaten for taking photos from outside the factory walls. The warning signs outside – “This factory area is legally established with state approval. Unauthorised trespassing is prohibited. Offenders will be sent to police for prosecution!” – are more aggressive than those outside many Chinese military compounds.

Cell phone and children: any risk?
by Dr. Igor Yakymenko,
carelessscience.com,
8 April 2017

According to the Einstein Healthcare Network’s survey, presented at the American Academy of Pediatrics conference in April 2015, among American children younger than one year old, 36% have touched or scrolled a smartphone screen, 24% used smartphone for calls and 52% watched TV on a mobile device. As for older kids, Israel Today reported recently that 83% of Israeli children and adolescents aged 8–15 are in possession of a smartphone, and 93% of these children use their mobile devices for at least 4 hours every day. Maybe I am too optimistic, but I guess most parents have some dim idea that those microwaves from iPhone can be noxious in some way for their kids, but no one tells you exactly, they think. Wrong. Science exactly knows this type of radiation is harmful for kid’s organism. Let’s see the facts.

"Phonegate"

"Phonegate"
Readers' Mail, Tribune de Genève, 13 July 2017

While the Swiss are very disappointed in the new European directive on roaming, there has been no attention accorded to the evolution of the "Phonegate" scandal, revealing that nine mobile phones out of ten exceed the legal standards of radiation set by the European Union when used in contact with the body.  These same norms govern Switzerland.

This scandal, which echoes "Dieselgate" in terms of the failure of international monitoring protocols, risks to be even more serious.  While Switzerland does not want to hear about this, some associations for the protection of public health in the United States have brought it to light.

A French physician, Marc Arazi, the person launching the alert on "Phonegate", has just written to the French Ministers for Health and Ecology to ask them to take urgent measures to inform the population of the risks and preventive measures such as carrying and using the cell phone at a distance from the body, recommended in all the manufacturers' user guides.

As for the Federal Councilors Alain Berset and Doris Leuthard, there is total silence because the Confederation is the major share-holder in Swisscom and promotes digital technology without warning consumers of the risks.  Where then are the authorities who are really concerned about the health of citizens?

by Juhana Harju, sateileeko.wordpress.com, posted 13 July 2017

Children spend too much time fiddling and game-playing with smart-
phones, taking them away from physical activity and being outdoors.

Almost everyone nowadays has a smartphone. We use them so much every day that it is a good idea to consider their possible detrimental effects on health. The observed detrimental effects and risks of smartphone use will henceforth be discussed.

1. The use of smartphones and tablets weakens eyesight

The use of smartphones and tablets has significantly increased myopia or short-sightedness. According to ophthalmologists this is caused by two factors. Too much time is spent viewing at close distance and not enough time is spent outdoors during daylight hours.

What Information Did The Government Of France Release?

France released radiation measurements for hundreds of cell phones tested independently by the government of France. When cell phones were tested in positions mimicking an individual holding the phone directly against the body, the radiation levels were so high that most tested phones exceeded European limits, showing radiation levels up to three times higher than the limits!

The Dangers of Centralising Power and Wireless Communications

"Professor Lennart Hardell expresses his disappointment over the way the WHO officials did not want to collaborate with the scientists raising these issues of EMF exposure which is non thermal. He expresses this in his paper stating ‘In view of the huge economic interests built into the ICNIRP guidelines, and several of its expert members’ ties to the industry, no doubt this is a large conflict of interest that will seriously undermine not only the credibility of the monograph on RF radiation, (which is a published study contained in the paper), but also the credibility of WHO as a protector of world health.’ "

The Dangers of Centralising Power and Wireless Communications
by Peter Paul Parker, Guest Writer for Wake Up World, 11 July 2017

Over the last few decades we have seen an increasing movement of the centralisation of power so the few can rule the masses. We have seen this with the European Union, the North American Union and the African Union to mention just a few. Some argue that this is a positive step for the betterment of humanity. There are many ways that humanity can come together, but the centralisation of power isn’t one of them. Power should be held at the level of the individual, not by your local councils, or even Government.

That is why I pose the question ‘Who’s looking after your health? The answer to that question should be you. You are the one that should be responsible for your health, and not leave it down to a centralised source. Why do I say that. I have just read a paper in the International journal of oncology by Professor Lennart Hardell, who once again has highlighted the problems with the World Health Organisation and its association with the International Commission for Non Ionising Radiation Protection. (ICNIRP). I will highlight some of the points from the paper here but I encourage you to read it here, you can also read my article on WIFI, which airs the same concerns here.

Worth a read before you go to bed with your phone again.

The National Toxicology Program is part of the US Department of Health and Human Services. Formed in the 1970s, the program's stated mission is to identify chemicals or other agents that could pose a threat to public health.

The NTP is currently conducting a multi-year, multi-phase, $25-million rodent study looking into health harms associated with the kinds of radiofrequency radiation (RFR) emitted by your phone. In a surprise move last year, the NTP chose to publish "partial findings" after concluding the first phase of its study. In its summary of those findings, the report states: "These studies found low incidences of malignant gliomas in the brain and schwannomas in the heart of male rats exposed to RFR of the two types . . . currently used in US wireless networks."

Tony Fadell, one of the minds behind the iPod and the iPhone, mulls design’s unintended consequences.

Tony Fadell’s wife likes to remind him when their three children’s eyes are glued to their screens that it’s at least partly his fault.

Hard to argue. Fadell, who founded the smart thermostat company Nest in 2010 and who was instrumental in the creation of both the iPod and later the iPhone as a senior vice president at Apple, has done more to shape digital technology than many of his peers. But in a recent conversation at the Design Museum in London, Fadell spoke with a mix of pride and regret about his role in mobile technology’s rise to omnipresence.

India: Brain Tumor Among Children on the Rise

Every year over 2,500 of the Indian children suffer from
medulloblastoma, a paediatric malignant primary brain
tumor.

“There is a lot of literature that establishes a link between mobile radiation and brain tumour. Mobile phones emit radiation from their antennas and kids are at high risk as they possess soft tissues near the ear. It is advisable for children, adolescents, and also pregnant women, to use headphones while on call or use the speaker,” said Dr P.K. Sethi, professor and consultant of the neurology department at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

United States: Major Newspaper Editorials Oppose 5G "Small Cell" Antenna Bills

Major newspaper editorials oppose 5G "small cell" antenna bills
saferemr.com, 10 July 2017

The following editorials oppose the 5G "small cell" antenna bills proposed by the telecommunications/wireless industry in numerous states across the country.

The editorial boards of the three major newspapers in California are opposed to this legislation because it imposes serious limitations on local control over the siting of cell antennas.

"The telecom corporations want to streamline permitting and reduce costs for slapping their transmitters — ranging in size from a pizza box to a small refrigerator — on municipal utility poles, street lights and traffic signals wherever they want....

In Sacramento, the telecoms have hoards of money to fuel legislators’ reelection campaigns, and they routinely spend it.

Arizona: Sedona Needs a New Wireless Communications Strategy

Sedona Needs a New Wireless Communications Strategy
Sedona Times, 8 July 2017

Sedona AZ (July 8, 2017) – The following is a letter to the SedonaEye.com editor:

According to “P & Z delays wireless vote” (Red Rock News, June 7, 2017), there was nearly an hour of discussion during the Commission’s Public Hearing on June 1. Additional comments and concerns from the public regarding the City’s Wireless Communications Plan update will not be allowed during the subsequent meeting (date TBD).

Apparently in danger of slipping beneath the radar is the fact that Consultant CityScape and the City Manager’s Office are recommending urban density cell tower coverage for Sedona vs rural density. The requirement of twice as many wireless infrastructure sites for urban density has greater negative impacts on public health, safety and welfare and fails to preserve the unique natural beauty of our very small City.

Drug alarm: Telangana govt in a huddle, bans cell phones in class, warns parents
by Balakoteshwara Rao| TNN, 7 July 2017

HYDERABAD: State's education department conducted a brainstorming session on Thursday in the backdrop of shocking police revelations about rampant drug abuse by students, particularly from elite schools. After a key meeting with district education officers and senior officials of the department, education minister Kadiyam Srihari announced no school student will be allowed to carry a mobile phone into classrooms. He also cautioned parents, requesting them to rethink what they equip their children while sending them to school or college.

Srihari, also deputy chief minister, said it was time for parents to spare a thought before gifting children mobile phones, credit cards and even bikes. Parents must watch out for signs of behavioral changes in their children, like skipping homework or failing to keep pace with academics, said Srihari.

Can One Refuse Compulsory Vaccination? The European Court Will Soon Rule

Can one refuse compulsory vaccination?  The European Court will soon rule.
by Grégor Puppinck, eclj.org, 8 July 2017

While the French government announced its will to make compulsory 11 vaccines for children under 2, the European Court has received the case of Czech parents who were sanctioned for refusing to submit their children to compulsory vaccination.

In this Pavel VAVŘIČKA et autres c. République tchèque case (no. 47621/13), the Strasbourg Court is asked to judge whether the obligation to vaccinate and the sanctions taken against the parents (notably denying access to school) respect freedom of conscience and the family freedoms (art. 8 and 9 of the Convention and art. 2 of Protocol No.1 to the Convention).

The ECLJ intervened in this case and submitted written observations to support the respect of the rights of parents, of the physical integrity of the persons and of the right to conscientious. More generally, the ECLJ is in favour of a public health policy aiming at reconciling concurring rights and freedoms, by emphasing pedagogy and recommendations rather than constraint.

Child Health Crisis – Technology Overuse Deals the Deathblow to Canadian Children

Child Health Crisis – Technology overuse deals the deathblow to Canadian children
by Cris Rowan
movingtolearn.ca, 5 July 2017

Escalating incidence of poor child physical 1,2 and mental health 3 in Canada has now reached epidemic proportions. One in three children enter school developmentally vulnerable 4, one in four are obese or overweight 5,6, one in five have a diagnosed mental illness 7, and one in ten are addicted to technology 8. 3 out of 4 children are sleep deprived (National Sleep Foundation 2016) negatively impacting on mental, physical, social and academic performance. Autism is now 1 in 65 and adhd 1 in 5 for males (CDC 2016). Cancer incidence in teens has risen 25% over the past 38 years 9. What all these health issues have in common is they are caused by technology overuse, threatening the very sustainability of Canadian life and economy. Managing balance between technology and healthy activity is the first step toward creating sustainable futures for all children. Families, schools and whole communities can work together to increase participation in healthy activity thereby reducing use of technology, to ensure child health and wellness. Form your Balanced Technology Management Foundation Team now, and move your community effectively and safely into the 21st century.

Pulmonologist Michel Aubier has been found guilty of misleading France’s Senate during an inquiry on air pollution.

In an unprecedented court case in Paris, an eminent French lung specialist has been fined €50,000 (US$57,000) and given a six-month suspended prison sentence because he did not disclose his ties to the oil industry during a Senate air-pollution inquiry.

The case is the first time that the French Senate has pressed criminal charges over false testimony. “It is an extremely important decision,” the Senate’s lawyer, Emmanuel Marsigny, told reporters. “It underlines the importance of the Senate’s commissions of inquiry and the risk of false declarations.” French researchers say that it also serves as a sharp reminder of the importance of disclosing all possible conflicts of interest when presenting evidence.

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth — a life for a lab book?

In the past few months, China has announced two new crackdowns on research misconduct — one of which could lead to executions for scientists who doctor their data.

Scientists have been sounding alarms for years about the integrity of research in China. One recent survey estimated that 40 percent of biomedical papers by Chinese scholars were tainted by misconduct. Funding bodies there have in the past announced efforts to crack down on fraud, including clawing back moneyfrom scientists who cheat on their grants.

California: An Audacious 5G Power (Pole) Grab

Telecommunications companies are preparing to roll out the next generation of wireless networks, dubbed “5G,” which promise an enormous increase in capacity and connectivity. These networks not only will increase competition in broadband, they are a key enabling technology for a host of advanced products and services. They also represent a gateway to better economic opportunities in inner-city areas that are underserved by broadband today.

But these new networks are different in structure and appearance too. Instead of high-powered antennas on tall towers, they rely on an array of lower-power transmitters closer to the ground that serve much smaller “cells.” That’s why mobile phone companies are concerned that cities and counties will throw up bureaucratic or financial roadblocks to 5G in their communities. It’s not a groundless worry; wireless companies already have encountered local resistance in places where they have introduced the new technology.

California: Cities Fight Bill to Streamline Cell Antenna Installations

Lawmakers in 179 California cities including San Jose, Oakland and San Francisco are fighting a bill to streamline permitting for wireless antennas on public buildings, streetlamps and traffic signal poles that they say would limit local control over where they go.

Senate Bill 649, by Sen. Ben Hueso, D-San Diego, proposes scaling back permit processes for antennas and equipment in an effort to meet demand for wireless services. It would cap how much a local government could charge phone companies for leases to $250 per year, though it does not prohibit them from “mutually agreeing” to a charge that’s different.

Prince Harry urges young people to put down their mobile phones and warns they affect mental health
by Hannah Furness, Royal Correspondent,
The Telegraph, 6 July 2017

Young people should try to take a break from checking their mobile phones to “process their thoughts” instead of rushing through the day, Prince Harry has suggested.

Prince Harry, who has spent the year campaigning on mental health issues, said more still needed to be done to equip young people to deal with the modern world.

Citing statistics about the number of times young people check their mobile phones, he argued everyone would be “more effective and efficient” if they took more time to simply think.

Smart Cities, 5G and EMF Pollution: How This 'New' Technology Will Increase Our Exposure to Microwave Radiation

Smart cities, 5G and EMF pollution: How this ‘new’ technology will INCREASE our exposure to microwave radiation
Posted by: Jeromy Johnson in EMF Pollution, June 18, 2017

(NaturalHealth365) Across the country, we are beginning to see the rise of so-called “Smart Cities.” The city of the future may include 5G wireless antennas on most utility poles, self-driving vehicles whisking us from place to place, and “Internet of Things” sensors everywhere. But, most people remain uninformed about the dangers of this new technology and the increase in EMF pollution.

We are told that the wireless smart city will bring us into a sustainable future of convenience and ease. However, cracks are appearing in this dystopian vision. At the very time that the smart city is being pushed upon us, our best science now shows how detrimental wireless technology is to our health.

[Interview] Danger of cell phone waves: en route towards a “phonegate”?
(published on Marc Arazi's blog)

Interview by Emmanuel Lévy, marianne.net/,
3 July 2017

Marc Arazi, a medical doctor, is constantly alerting the public authorities to the potential health dangers of the waves of our cell phones. He has just written about this to the new government.

Following your actions, the National Frequencies Agency (ANFR) has finally made public the results of its tests on mobile phone radiation. Are you satisfied?

My satisfaction is like the publication of these data: partial. At the beginning of June, ANFR decided to publish on its site only a part of the SAR* test results that it carried out between 2012 and 2016. These data confirm that more than a hundred cell phone models made by various manufacturers present a real risk to users. Some of them show a SAR value measured in contact with the trunk that is three times the maximum standard value. In my view, the consumer is being “deceived” by the SAR value displayed by the manufacturers and the real SAR value revealed by ANFR. It is imperative that industry explains its practices and takes measures to inform its customers. It is significant that Apple, who has doubtless recognized the commercial risk and possible financial loss, is starting to inform its customers to either use a hands-free headset or place the device more than 5 millimeters away from the body. The measurements provided by ANFR confirm that low-radiation technology exists: it is possible to produce phones with a low SAR value.

Switzerland Abandons Nuclear Power - Really?

Beznau nuclear power plant
Less than two weeks after the popular vote on the new energy strategy, the Swiss Federal Council decided to amend nuclear safety rules to take into account the possibility of more serious accidents.  Switzerland holds the record for having the longest-operating nuclear reactor, the Beznau power plant, which has accumulated 48 years of activity and 925 microcracks on its reactor vessel. Stopped since 2015, its operator has requested authorization to start it up again, arguing that it could still hold out until 2030. It would then be 60 years old!

Switzerland abandons nuclear power! Really?
by Anne-Cécile Reimann, Geneva, Readers' Mail, Le Courrier, 31 May 2017

Anne-Cécile Reimann, Contratom activist, reminds us that the "energy strategy 2050", recently approved by popular vote, sets no limit with regard to the shutting down of nuclear power plants in operation.

On 21 May 2017, the Swiss people accepted by popular vote the "2050 strategy", which marks progress in the energy transition that is indispensable to preserve the climate and our planet...

Concerning the atom, the position of our government has not changed. "No building of new nuclear power plants" (provision already in place since March 2013) whilc existing nuclear plants continue to operate as long as they are safe! We remind you that the Chernobyl and Fukushima plants were considered safe five minutes before the accidents!
